Meeting schedule

The second Tuesday, every month, September to May

Gosport Lodge meets on the second Tuesday of every month, September through May. We're dark in June, July and August, returning in September after the summer break. Our Masonic year follows the calendar year, and the new Master is installed each January. Members typically arrive from 6pm; the meeting begins promptly thereafter and is followed by the Festive Board.

Did you know?

Festive what?

The "Festive Board" is the meal and toasts that follow every Lodge meeting — it's where the formal evening softens into laughter, conversation and the kind of friendship that's at the heart of Freemasonry.

Our next meeting · October

Trafalgar Night

Trafalgar Night is our tribute to Admiral Lord Nelson and all who fought at the Battle of Trafalgar on 21 October 1805. In a town built by the Royal Navy, it is one of the most meaningful evenings in our calendar — a formal commemorative dinner in the naval tradition, held in place of October's Festive Board, and closing with the time-honoured toast to Nelson's Immortal Memory.

  • Date: Tuesday 13 October 2026
  • Time: Members from 6pm; the meeting is followed by the Trafalgar Night dinner in place of the usual Festive Board
  • Venue: Gosport Masonic Centre, 5 Clarence Road, Gosport, PO12 1BB
  • Open to: A gentlemen's evening — members and visiting brethren, who are most welcome to bring guests, including non-Masons
  • Dress: Suit and tie, or military uniform if you prefer — black tie is not required. Craft regalia is worn for the meeting itself.
  • To attend: please confirm your place, and any guests, with the Dining Secretary as usual

"England expects that every man will do his duty"

Nelson's signal to the fleet · Trafalgar, 21 October 1805

The word "duty" was not in the signal book, so Nelson had it spelled out letter by letter — D, U, T, Y — the flags shown above.
